Sports Pitch Maintenance and Renovation – Football and Rugby

Premier Sports Turf Contractors offers a full range of services to maintain and improve your sports playing surfaces.
We recommend a full pitch renovation once a year to maintain a good healthy surface; in addition to this we offer an ongoing pitch maintenance program to ensure a good quality playing surface throughout the playing season.

Our services during and at the end of the playing season include:

Scarification - Scarification is done to remove annual meadow grass and thatch. This is essential to help keep the surface clean and prepare the ground for seeding.
Topdressing – The correct mix of sand / soil will be applied to the pitch after scarifying. This helps with levels on the playing surface and can assist in drainage and helps create a good seeding bed.

Aeration -

• Verti-draining - this assists growth, relieves compaction and helps with root development.
• Hollow Coring - different size cores are removed from the ground for soil exchange and improved aeration.
• Groundbreaker -This rotary de-compactor will penetrate the hardest of soil conditions with very little surface disturbance.
• Multivator for end of season renovations - The BLEC Multivator is the answer to the growing demand for de-compacting and topdressing by recycling natural buried and existing soil/sand up to the surface-saving time and money from importing materials. The specially designed blades lift some soil and leave the unwanted stones buried for a clean finish and incorporate the soil dressing back into the surface.

Seeding – The Verti-Seeder unique action first opens the turf using special oval shaped discs followed by small chisels. The seed is then fed though the seeding funnels and released into the slit where the wind cannot blow it away. The seeder seeds at 40mm spacing. The machine can be adjusted to give you exact seeding rates for very fine seed, like bents and fescues. This enables the verti-seeder to accuratem on any ground contour.

The GKB dimple combi seeder has spiked rollers letting air into the soil and weaken the weeds, while the machine sows the Combi seeder then presses the seed in one movement and brushes your green or sports field.

Feeding / fertilising - is carried out if required after soil has been analysed.
